i'll be there mike. few questions though, what will the draft name be? and will you mock draft mania this draft? i think it would be cool to have a listener mock draft that you turned into a podcast so we could hear about how smart or dumb we are.

The draft name is "FantasyBaseballExpress.com" you can't miss it. Go to MDC, log in, and click "drafts", then click "join a draft and you should see this one.
As for mock draft mania, I am doing an expert draft on Monday, Jan 5th which I am planning a mania podcast. Then after that, I'll do a real listener/reader mock draft and I will mania that one too.! Maybe sometime later that same week!
I'm signed up for the draft, hopefully I'll be fully awake @ 8 am my time.

I sure did! Why not? I was going to take Carlos Quentin but he went right before me. This is what happens when your listeners/readers do a mock with you!
How does this sound though.....
Reyes/Fielder/Ortiz with the first 3 picks!
Reyes is my speed catalyst which means I don't have to stretch for speed early now. Power is at a premium this year as the 40+HR guy is the most scarce of anything this year. I saw a chance here to load up on power by packaging Fielder and Ortiz together.
I don't care what any of the other experts say, Ortiz should be healthy and if he puts up his normal .290/40/120+, then I'm getting a solid value at that 3rd spot.
Plus, look at how much speed I ended up with anyway later in the draft! ortiz was a smart pick there because I think he'll be healthy this year and be decent even without Manny.
not trying to call you out or question your judgement. i just wanted to hear your reasoning. I have purposedly avoided Papi in all my mocks. this year, i'm doing an auction format and not sure if he's worth the investment is all.
I know. I'm not being defensive. I just wanted to give a clear explanation as to why I like Ortiz this season. It was a good question because many people are avoiding him, and I think that's a mistake.
