Wow. This is the first ranking that I have seen A-Rod listed at #1. Not sure I would have him in that spot.

Yup! I'll stand by it! A-Rod hit 30/125 in a limited 522AB. Give him another 50-100AB in a normal healthy season and Wright and Longoria shouldn't even be allowed to hold his jock. I agree that the 50+HR season is gone but I'm not so sure he can't hit 35-40+ with 130+RBI again in 2011. If he does that, he can hit .270+ all day long, sprinkle in 5-10 SB and your getting a great season despite the age. Still only 35. That's older but not old where a major decline is going to happen. The odds that A-Rod hits say 35/130+ are excellent assuming he stays healthy which he should.

David Wright will usually give you one solid 2 month slump each year, the Mets team is a huge question mark, and the top of the Mets order is anything but sound. Last year Arod was hurt and still had better power numbers than Wright but with less SB's and really only about 12 points less in BA. Wright's stats last year in my opinion are about what his norm is. Is anyone expecting Wright to do .300/35/125/20?? I doubt it. I feel like Wright will have about the same year he had in 2010 stat wise and that A-Rod will hit for more power than 2010 and a few more Sb than he had last year. That's my reason for ranking him over Wright.

With Longoria, he lost Carlos Pena (lineup protection) and Carl Crawford (RBI opportuniies), plus, only hit 22HR last year and 104 RBI in a great lineup. Now his lineup looks like crap! I like Longoria to have a great year, but again, A-Rod will hit for more power than Longoria, only have a few less SB (but will get SB's), and A-Rod's BA should be much better than .270 while Longoria was only a .292 hitter in 2010.

So that's my reasoning on the rankings. Like I always say, I make these rankings myself. I don't read other rankings and websites and bloggers and then make my rankings based on what the consensus is. I make up my own rankings starting with the players I want first at each position if I was picking in a draft. In this case, I'd personally rather have A-Rod over Wright and Longoria. Many people will disagree but I don't really care. My rankings have never failed me and there is a method to my madness. Hopefully this explanation helps at least one person out there make a great decision come draft time. Then my job here will be complete!

Good luck in 2011!

I love your Aramis ranking at #7. I may even go higher. He is in a contract year and while he usually sits through nagging injuries, he may play through them this year. I hate the Cubs, but we all know how dangerous Aramis is at the plate. If we can get him 500+ ABs, then I see no reason for a line of .285/85/30/100
