As a fellow Ubaldo Jimenez fantasy baseball team owner, I feel everyone's pain out there. You've heard about his velocity being down, the cut on his cuticle, the fact the last two months last season he was ordinary, yada, yada, yada. As a NL Only league fantasy nut, I am here to tell you that the problem with Ubaldo Jimenez this year can really be narrowed down to one thing. For whatever the reason, Ubaldo has pitched beyond awful at home this year. The bad news is that it could be in his head and he could be trying to do too much. It's all between the ears for Mr.Jimenez. This whole situation reminds me of the exchange between Rick "Wild Thing" Vaughn and Jack Parkman. "This one is called the Eliminator.... if you can get a piece of it, I'll let you rename it!
Let's break down the stats:
Home: 7 Starts, 0-5, 7.05 ERA, 1.89 Ratio, 29K's in 37 IP
Road: 5 Starts, 1-2, 2.06 ERA, 0.82 Ratio, 33K's in 35 IP
So basically we need Jimenez to break out of his home funk. Don't give up yet. He is very capable of going on a tear. Ubaldo has been a good pitcher the past three years. In daily leagues, start him on the road and bench at home until he proves he's capable. Knowing this, you may be able to buy low and acquire Jimenez on the cheap. Hang in there Ubaldo owners.
